The Challenge

While it isn’t difficult to convince visitors and locals of Napa Valley to add a wine tour to theiritinerary, that goal isless likely to happen when relying on an outdated, visually-lacking, and hard-to-navigate website—which was the case for Napa Wine Tours.

For years, the team at NWT relied on its original website design to attract and convert website visitors. For a while, it worked – but because their website had never been updated, it left a lot to be desired. After years of trying to stick it out, the NWT team decided it was time for anew website that would bring more life and layers to Napa Wine Tour’s online presence.

The Objectives

Previously, the NWT website was bogged down with local content that, while was very useful for educating visitors, missed the mark when it came to user-friendliness, aesthetics, and navigation.

We this in mind, we conducted a deep review ofNWT’s old website to pinpoint all the trouble areas that were keeping the company from converting visitors. During this process we identified key priorities and objectives that would guide site development and serve as the backbone to the future success of the Napa Wine Tour website:

The Results

The new Napa Wine Tour website is attractive, authentic, and easy to explore. The design elements we incorporated better reflect the current culture of the NWT brand—something that was missing from the company’s previous behind-the-times design.

Also, the site’s new navigation was a top priority. In the past, it was almost impossible for visitors to quickly find what they needed. To combat this, we structured the new NWT site around clear actions and paths with straightforward language like “Tours,” “Our Approach,” “Learn More,” and “Book Now.”

Another important dimension that was missing from NWT’s previous wine country website design was an inviting user experience. The old site was focused more on content and less on UX. Knowing that such an approach would only continue to hurt the brand’s conversion rates, we added a variety of new images and icons that help set the tone of NWT’s wine tour experiences even before a visitor books.

Treading New Soil

However, for far too long the team’s experience and incredible knowledge of the Napa Valley wine country were being overlooked by visitors who were simply not impressed enough with the previous Napa Wine Tour website to place a booking.
